The New Forest spans across Hampshire and part of south of Wiltshire. The New Forest National Park is home to a wide array of rare birds and other wildlife including free roaming deer, ponies and cows as the area became protected by the King of England back in 1079. There are a number of small towns and villages in the region including Fordingbridge, Ringwood and Beaulieu and it is close to Bournemouth and Southampton. It is a wonderful place to take a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of a big city.

A great way of enjoying everything the New Forest has to offer is by staying in a rented cottage. Most New Forest cottages can be found within the small villages of the forest itself. From here you can take part in many of the activities that are on offer throughout the New Forest National Park.

There are a number of ways that you can get more out of a New Forest holiday cottage when you are booking them. Here are some tips for getting a better deal on holiday cottages as well as getting more out of it.

1. Look for special offers on luxury holiday cottages. – People that are planning on staying in a large group will be able to find some great deals on luxury holiday cottages for up to groups of 12. A luxury cottage will be more spacious and will come with a number of bedrooms. If you book during the off season you will be able to find some great offers on luxury cottages in the Autumn and Spring months.

2. Rent a cottage for a large group to save money. – If you book a holiday cottage with a large group of friends it will cost you a lot less. You will end up having more money to spend on visiting the different tourist attractions and going out in the evening.

3. Visit during the New Forest Show and get a taste of country life. – The New Forest County Show is held at the end of July and typically has over 100,000 people attending every year. If you would like a really good family day out and to join in with the celebration of country life then the County Show really is a must see event. You can watch the livestock competitions and the show jumping events as well as tasting some of the vast selection of locally produced foods. There are also plenty of things to keep children entertained with circus workshops, simulators and other fun and games.

4. Get some accommodation with a swimming pool or spa. – You’ll be surprised by the number of holiday cottages that have a spa or swimming pool. A swimming pool is a great way to get some exercise and a spa is fantastic if you want to relax. Pools and spas are a great way to enhance your holiday so why not try to find one.

5. Put together a schedule of local attractions you want to visit and arrange your accommodation around it. – Choosing the different places you want to visit such as tourist attractions, towns and events is a good thing to do before you take your trip. This will help you avoid wasting time travelling to different locations as you can choose to book accommodation in an area that is suitable for visiting all of them.
